Seeding Calibration – for 9,12,14,16 row seeders

(example rye/clover mix)

  1. Select a gear L4 (low 5)
  2. Take 1 seeding tube out of its disc or tine and place it in an empty bucket. Fill the hopper up with seed.
  3. Lift the seeder off the ground or use some blocks to lift the driving roller off the ground. Mark the crumbling roller with a piece of tape and slowly begin to turn the driving roller anti-clockwise. As the seed begins to fall in the bucket.
  4. Rotate the wheel 60 times
  5. Weigh the seed in grams and multiply x (insert your machine size) 9,12,14,16

Example: 9 row seeder

The seed from 1 tube as weighed on the scales small kitchen scales may read 15 grams – In a calculator be sure to enter 15 grams with the (9 row seeder is used for this example)

15 grams = 0.015

0.015 x 9     9,12,14,16 (Insert your machinne size) = 0.135

0.135x113     113=9 row, 104=12 row, 85 = 14 row, 66=16 row (width factor)

=15.25 kg per hectare

*Use the above formula for all seeds and fertilizers for both seed and fertilizer boxes

To increase/decrease the seeding rate, choose a higher gear to increase and a lower gear decrease (L1 is the slowest H8 is the fastest)

To increase/decrease the fertilizing rate, rotate the adjustment wheel at the fertilizer box clock-wise to decrease and anti-clockwise to increase.

Check your calibration again making seed/fertilizer adjustments to ensure you have the correct rates you are required for before seeding.
